I am in a rut. Help please?

Even before surgery, I got "stuck" on certain foods for a while. For example, I went through a chicken pot pie phase where all I would eat was chicken pot pies. My favorite one was cereal. Not just any cereal. It had to be as dh would call it "the stuff all the kids wanted to eat" ie: Lucky charms, fruity pebbles, the list goes on.

So here I am 8 weeks post op and in a food rut.

Bf: protein shake with almond milk (12oz)
Lunch: protein shake with almond milk (12 oz)
Dinner: 4-6 ox of Greek yogurt with a tbs of PB and some sugar free cheesecake pudding.

For hours at a time, I have poured over Bariatric Foodie, Eggface and many other blogs. I see food I am interested in eating, but in my rut I really don't. I have PCOS and am terrified of adding carbs b/c I am sensitive to them, but am wondering if I am getting enough carbs now.

Any advice? I'm wondering if it's time to see the NUT and my bariatric counselor. I know I can't live the rest of my life on shakes and greek yogurt.

Are you still on soft foods?  I have been eating a lot of refried beans.  I mixed some greek yogurt with salsa and put it in a container in the fridge.  When it is time for lunch I heat up the beans, salsa mix and a little bit of low fat cheese.  I also do cottage cheese.  Sometimes I mix in a few sunflower seeds for crunch.  Just be careful you don't overdo the seeds.

I worry that you are not eating enough.  My plan has me eating 3  (2 OZ) meals a day and using protein shakes for snacks.

I am worried about that also. My plan is one of those plans that say 3 meals a day only. My weight loss has been very slow. 27 lbs in 8 weeks and I am wondering if me not eating enough calories is having something to do with it. I am on phase 4. I can eat (just choose not to, I guess out of fear) a good variety of food.

Have you added up how many calories you are eating a day?  The protein shakes may be giving you enough calories.  It is important to get variety.  Remember this is for long term health.  During this time we need to be learning how to eat for the rest of our lives.  My Nut told us we should eat 3 meals a day even if it is only one bite at each meal.  As for carbs remember there are good carbs and bad carbs.  Stick to whole grains and fruits.  You could try switching up one meal and see if that makes a difference.  If it doesn't work or if you find that you are sensitive to it try something different.

make that appointment with your Nut.  Maybe she can help you make some meal plans.  Mine had me come up with 3 or 4 days of meal plans.  And remember this is a learning process.

The problem I see with your diet is that it all slides through. I would be hungry on that diet...are you?
Your brain needs some carbs. Not cereal (oh I loved Lucky Charms too!)
How about trying a little fruit? Carbs in their natural form really aren't evil. They are fun.
