Cheese grits and a scrambled egg!

For lunch I wanted something different so I decided to make a little bit of grits with cheese, scramble an egg and mix it in my grits with just a little olive oil!

Proud to say it stayed down and filled me up!  Now that I know I can tolerate it I'll be making it more often!

Thanks, just wanted to share!

I was very disappointed when my NUT told me no grits, I love cheese grits.  I am thinking, grits, oatmeal, cream of wheat and mash potatoes can be a treat for me sometimes (those are the things she decided to burst my bubble on) I had already bought them and was waiting to eat them.  But with eggs and cheese atleast I would be getting protein.

You'll find a lot of opionions on the complex carbs like grits, potatoes, grains, etc. on this site.  I'm like you in that I love grits, but my NUT said no until I am in month 7 post-op and even then only 1/2 cup max a day total of complex carbs.  They say they cause cravings and trigger a response in your body to want more and more complex carbs.  Since that is part of the reason I was overweight, I'm generally going to avoid them and stick to healthier low carb alternatives.

I did cheese grits early out.  i would use the indiv. packets and I could only eat 1/2 with a little cheese.  these days, I don't do white carbs so no more grits but I don't really miss them.
