This is for you guys who have been out for 6 months to a year!

When Thanksgiving and Christmas rolled around what did you guys eat when you got together with the family?

Thanksgiving: I will be four months and a week post-op so being that short of time out I'm wondering if I will be able to eat stuffing, green beans, potato salad etc.  I know I won't be able to eat cake or pie unless I make it myself using Splenda.

Eat mostly turkey.  Then eat some veggies.  If you really want stuffing or potato salad, eat about two bites of it after you've eaten your turkey.  You'll be too full to eat dessert right after dining, but if your family waits a while for dessert like mine does ('cause everyone's stuffed right after dinner) the easiest thing would be to bring something for yourself for dessert.  If you take plain greek yogurt and mix some cheesecake flavor pudding mix in it, you'll think you're eating cheesecake.  Or bake a pie with Splenda if you really want and everyone can have some.  But don't eat a lot of it yourself.  Or if you can stop at two bites, eat two bites of whatever everyone else is having.

I had my surgery July of last year, so I was just under five months when Thanksgiving came around.  I nibbled on turkey and that was about all I could handle.  It was yummy, though and I just kept myself entertained with seeing my family members.  =]
