Is this what a stall is?

I weighed in on September 5th at 196.2. On the 6th I weighed in again at 196.2. On the 7th I was up 1.2 pounds to 197.4. I realize this isn't a huge fluctuation but I am only two and a half months out! I shouldn't be gaining should I? Not only did my weight go up but it has stayed up. Up until now I have been losing an average of about a pound every two days and now it has been 5 days at 197.4. I have not had a stall to date...is this what this is?

I have not increased my diet at all. The last couple days I have increased my water intake and exercise to try and break it if that is what is going on but nothing changes.

In my head I know that I have read similar posts like this before and that I will eventually resume losing, but my heart is kind of freaking out thinking that I am done losing and that is as far as I am going to go! I guess I need to have a little bit more faith in my self and in the process,  but so far it has all just been too good to be true. I was finally starting to feel like I was gong to conquer this weight thing once and for all and I just have the ultimate of fears that I am the exception to the rule.

Sorry for long post and freak out! :)

Sounds like a stall to me.  Some times they can last a couple of days or weeks.  Hang in there and keep doing what you are.  That scale will be moving again before you know it.  Don't get discouraged!  You are doing awesome!

It is totally normal to fluctuate up and down a bit, especially if you are coming close to TOM.  I go up 2lbs and then down 4 over the next week and a half.

It is totally normal, you have to remember that in this journey or you are going to drive yourself nuts. Your WL is not a down hill slope, it is a set a stairs, you lose a bit, you level off  then you lose then you level.  It goes in waves.

I don't know if it's a stall or not, but I have been going through the exact same thing. It is SO frustrating. One week I will be down 2 or 3 lbs and then the next week I won't lose anything or even gain a pound or 2 back. How could I be gaining? I have not changed what I have been eating... I don't have a TOM anymore so I know it is not that. I do think I retaining fluids though because if I press on my legs it will leave a white finger print. Don't know how to break that either. Like you, I also worry that this is not gonna work for me, that I will be the only one RNY doesn't work for.

It's normal for your weight to fluctuate at times, even though you're only two months out.

You may be having a stall but it's really too soon to say.  You've gone a week without losing anything.  If that continues for a couple more weeks, then you'll know it's a stall.  Otherwise, it's just normal weight loss.  We don't lose every single day.

Thanks Kelly;  Hey Kristie, You and I had our surgeries the same day!!!!!

I am experiencing the same thing. But I have been stalling for about 3 weeks now! Took me about 2 weeks to go from 224 to 218!! You know I was freaking out! I finally got out of the 220's . Thank you Lord!  And now I am going from 216 back and forth between 219 and 216...............
uuuuuuuuuugh!! I know how you feel.  But!  I read post on here everyday and there are a LOT of people going through this too. So I never felt like the lone ranger...................... So keep on doing what you been doing. You are doing great!

I know a quick way to lose a few pounds painlessly.  Just go into your bathroom, pick up your scale and toss it out the nearest window.  Weigh yourself at the doctor's, your mother's, your friend's or not at all until you feel ready to handle the normal fluctuations that come with your cycle and other factors.  Your clothes will tell you that you have lost weight, or gained it as the case may be.  You don't need the numbers on a piece of metal to make you feel good or bad about yourself.

That's just what I was thinking! Weighing obsessively can make you crazy. I'm only weighing once a week. It reminds me that it's not about the loss alone, it's about the lifestyle change. Eventually, we will all stop losing and there won't be that instant gratification every time we get on the scale. I'm really trying to look at the big picture and focus on the process not just the results. Take a break from the scale and give yourself some credit for all the "non-scale victories" you have like eating right, exercising, and taking care of yourself. Measure that everyday and I think you'll feel better!

I just got through 3 weeks of this and we're very close in surgery dates.  I went 1-2 lbs up and down to no change for 3 weeks.  I stepped on the scale last week and was down 4 lbs all of a sudden and down another 3 lbs.  It is frustrating!  Just keep on following your plan.
