I know bread is a no-no but I figured a Englis Muffin would be OK because it's crunchy and not doughy like a bagel or regular bread.

I've been wanting a slice of pizza but can't order from a pizzeria so i want to make my own and the only thing I could think of to use as a base is an English Muffin.

That would work for the crunch factor. I would suggest using thomas' english muffins, maybe the whole wheat version or 100 calorie version. I would make it in the oven or toaster oven to get the best results. If you toast it and then microwave (some people tell me they do this), then its gets chewy and less crunchy.

I like to use whole grain/whole wheat tortillas, and make them in the oven.

I use a little bit of pizza sause, motzerella cheese (not fat free... it won't melt), and I add some oregano for some more flavor. When I don't use pizza sause, I use a bit of margarine or spray margarine and add a little bit of garlic poweder and its like a white pizza.

I absolutly love the idea of the english muffin. I think I will have to try that for myself.

Also, as a side note. It is my own personal belief, that bread is not all bad. Its what bread we choose, and how often (or less often in out case) that we eat it. It is all about portion control and moderation now.

I would love to hear how your pizza turns out!

Well my surgeon said no bread but I can do toast ???? LOL it just have to be really really toasted and since I don't do burnt toast I just don't eat it.

I like Thomas's english muffins, and seen a lady on TV before make pizzas using it....good idea!  So I think I'll give it a try....will let you guys know how it came out.

My favorite thing to do is make a pizza on a tortilla. It is thin and you can put all the toppings you like. If you cook it at 400 degrees it gets crispy. But I do eat an english muffin in the morning but I double toast it till it is almost burnt. my kids say I am going to break my teeth ha ha

EM  will work as  a base .    Make a thick pizza sauce by microwaving a regular tomato sauce until its condensed .. add extra garlic  , italian seasonings to it first .

Do Urself a favor and use a fat free  version like Hunts or make Ur own so U don't stop Ur weight loss.

I  put a layer  of  fat free white american or  fat free  " swiss"  cheese on the ( slightly toasted under a broiler ortoaster  ) EM first ... then  add the sauce , then  fatfree mozzarell cheese  ...

there are  vegan  lowfat products like  " sausage  " that  comes in a roll  ( 0 grams fat )  andvegan peperoni that  taste ASEWSOME on pizza too ... and so authentic!   of course U can always add veggie toppings too  ...

easy and simple and protein-rich  and yummy !

Things like pizza and english muffins got me to the point of morbid obesity since I have an addiction to refined carbs.  Since I had already failed at my first WLS I felt very strongly that I needed to make complete changes in order to be successful with my revision.
I do my best to find healthy, low carb substitutions to things that I enjoy, like pizza.  Things I could eat without guilt or worry that I will set up the cravings that make it hard to stop.  One of my favorites is this recipe.  http://escapefromobesity.blogspot.com/2010/03/cauliflower-pi zza.html
I have made it several times and even gave some to my daughter without telling her what was in it.  She thought it was a regular pizza, which is saying a lot for a teen ager.
