any ideas on protein

I also can't stand the smell, which didn't bother me at all before surgery by the way.  I have found by putting my drinks in a lidded reusable mug that the lid keeps me from smelling the protein.

The only thing that makes me absolutely gag now is trying to get my ground up Armour Thyroid medicine down in the morning.  It tastes like dust and ashes and can only be taken with water.

Hope my little trick works for you,
Paula

If you can buy some sugar free syrups from Torani or DaVinci.  They come in all kinds of flavors and they really help with the taste of the protein drinks.  Also a tablespoon of sugar free pudding mix helps with the texture and taste.  Try using almond milk or soy milk or even coconut milk.  You can usually find those in the health food section.  Keep trying and you will find something you may enjoy.  It became a challenge to me to make yummy drinks.  Before surgery I was addicted to starbucks and McDonalds Frappes so I figured out how to make them with protein and decaf coffee.
If you really can't find something you like you can try to buy some unflavored whey isolate and mix some into soups and oatmeal.  To make it smooth try mixing it first with a little liquid and making it kind of like a paste, until it is all blended, then add it to foods.  I use it to make pudding, too.  If you heat it make sure the temp is under 130 degrees or it will clump.

Have you tried making your own, or are you using ready-made shakes?

Here's my favorite and it has no weird smell.

1. 16 oz water
2.  1 packet of Crystal Light Energy Peach Mango (single serve)
3.  Approx 1 c of frozen fruit (I use blueberries, strawberries, mango, peach and grape - Dole makes a mix that I get for $9.99 at BJs that has everything but the blueberries)
4.  1-2 scoops of IDS whey isolate vanilla cream protein powder.

I blend it up and it's as good as any smoothie I've ever had.  I had two of them today (busy day, no time to sit and eat real food, so in order to get fluids and protein today, I went the shake route).  I always have one per day.

I had the same issue post op. It was not only smell, but texture too that made me ill. So blending it like a shake or smoothie made me have even greater issues. The only kind that I have found that works for me is Syntrax Nectar. I particularly like the Roadside Lemonade, Grapefruit and Crystal Sky. I do sometimes have to use a lidded cup when mixing them because the whey can sometime be detected. Otherwise, I have had success with this brand so far.

You and I had sugery on the same day...I was in the same boat for about a week.  Everything was too sweet and so many smells made me gag.  I am doing a shake made with greek yogurt (sneaking in the protein) and banana protein powder add a dash of equal..in the mornings...but at night I mix Gatorade G2 Fruit punch (low calorie) with the Nectar Roadside lemonade.  It is like a slightly tart strawberry lemonade...good for 23 grams of protein and the Gatorade has electrolytes tha****er doesn't.  It takes me FOREVER to drink it..but I'm just doing the sip, sip, sip all evening.

GOOD LUCK!
