My Dr cleared me today to start on solids.  I'm really excited but also scared to death at the same time.    I'm so afraid of dumping that i'm alsmost ready to stay on the soft foods that I have gotten comfortable with.  When you first started solids, what were some of your first couple of meals?

I was the same, just stay away from high sugars and fatty foods especially Fried food and BACON.
Take it one day at a time, eat slowly and try different proteins, you will be fine..

Also eat slowly and chew your food take small bites.

Good Luck

Only 30% of people who have the RNY surgery dump.  You can dump on soft foods as easily as solids.  Generally, if you stay away from foods that are high in sugar or fat or both (this is just a generalization)  you will probably be ok.  Try new foods at home first in little portions.  You will do fine.

Good Luck

I'm sure you will be fine.

I started out with grilled fish, then chicken, and so on. Take tiny bites, and chew chew chew at lease 25-30 times before you swallow. Make sure that what you pick is high in protien and low in fat and sugar. When you master the beginning stages of solids than you can graduate to other things.

I started with meats cooked in my crockpot. I would cook chicken with cream of onion soup or beef stew meat with french onion soup. This kept it nice and soft. Just take it slow and chew well. I also had good luck with broiled Salmon. Other fishes seemed too dry for me.
