NSV - Canoeing with the scouts! With lots of pictures!
My husband has been a scoutmaster of a high adventure scout troop for 10 years, but I have never participated in their outings - until now!! I feel so much more confident about my size, my fitness level and my abilities that I volunteered to go canoeing with them on Lake Mojave (it's actually the Colorado River south of Hoover Dam) on the Satruday of Labor Day weekend. We (18 scouts and 4 adults) canoed and played in the water for over 5 hours and had a great time - I even climbed up and jumped into the water from a 10 foot high rock! It was so much fun that this past weekend I went on another canoeing outing. Saturday morning we paddled about a mile down stream, camped overnight on the beach and then headed back Sunday morning. As the sun went down we all layed on the beach (me, 4 dads/scout leaders, and 8 scouts) and looked at the stars and watched the moon rise. During the night we heard coyotes calling to one another and I got to see the sunrise right out the door of my tent. Such a great time - and I never would have even tried it without the success I have had. Such a miracle!
Here's me canoeing on 9/3/2011.
Bighorn sheep in the wild - so beautiful! (there are 3 in the picture if you look closely)

The camp - our tent is the orange one.
The scene outside my tent as I opened my eyes Sunday morning.
And, finally, that's me in the back of that first canoe at the end of the trip.
