A simple gallbladder removal turned into a 3 day ordeal

Thursday they found out my gallbladder was functioning @ only 9%, so they decided to remove it on Friday. It was supposed to be an outpatient procedure. Well, I had a hard time coming out of anestisa and my respiration's kept dropping. I was in severe pain. I have had 2 c-sections and RNY and none of them compared to this. They could not get my pain under control despite trying Morphine, percocets and diaulided. They wanted to keep me another night but I begged to come home tonight.

They went through the same incision as my RNY. I was so confused as to why I had very minimal pain from that and severe pain from my gallbladder removal. They only thing they told me was I just had my RNY in June so perhaps I had some scare tissue built up and they had to laser my gallbladder off of my liver. All I can say is OUCHIE.

Sorry to hear about your pain ordeal, I can't even imagine any pain worst than that RNY surgery.  I thought I would just die.  I also had 2 CS as well.  When I had my surgery nothing worked for me as well. I didn't sleep the entire night I was miserable.  But any way I wish you all the better recovery, take care of youself.

was your RNY open that it was so painful?  My RNY wasn't that painful - it was lap but my recent surgery for perforated colon and iliostomy and reversals were the most agonizing experiences of my life - 4 surgeries in all - all open - had to close on there own.

was the gallbladder done open? or lap?  I can't understand why they would do it open.

My gallbladder reoval was done lap. So wasn't my RNY. With my RNY I got to my room @ 7pm and walking the halls @ 8pm. I felt fantastic after my RNY. I left the next day and was walking my street 4x's a day. That's why I was so surprised that a simple gallbladder remova was painful.
