Gas

I have been having a terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) time with gas recently. It has gotten bad since I had my gallbladder taken out. I don't eat cabbage, broccoli or any of those foods, I don't eat fatty foods, but sugar and sugar alcohols definitely cause problems. I've done so well with no dumping really or anything, and now it seems like the only time I am "safe" is if I only drink shakes. It isn't a lactose thing, I've experimented with that. I use beano etc...but I don't always know I'll need it and it doesn't always work anyway. Does anyone have any great ideas or solutions? I'm really frustrated, it's gross and I'm driving my family crazy.

Sugar alcohols cause issues with many post ops, whether they have a gallbladder or not.  You can't drink shakes for complete nutrition. You'll also likely not feel full on shakes alone, as they drain out of your pouch a lot quicker then solid foods.  Devrom (a product that helps many post ops with gas issues) may help you. It's sold online.  Dave

I'll have to try the Devrom, thanks. The Gas-X strips and beano help a little. I do eat foods, but lately it just seems like the shakes are the only things that don't cause the gas, that's all I meant. So frustrating. Thank you for the suggestion, I really appreciate it!

Devrom does not prevent gas, it is supposed to take the odor away although I haven't found that is does yet.

Gas X works wonders... There are dissolvable strips. I tried the chewables and dumped on them so be careful.
Good luck!

Have you tried any Probiotics? Could be that your intestinal flora has been altered and probiotics may help reset the balance. It's worth a try anyway....

I'm 2 and half years out, and my gas has gotten horrible also in the last few months.  Can't figure out why.  I'd really like to figure this out.
