I called my Doc's office again today, and am being told it is just "normal" bad pain.  But this has been going on (off and on) for 2 weeks!  I'm almost 5 weeks out and am still having breath-taking burning sharp pain in my lower left tummy when I move certain ways~  I spoke with the nurse today, and she assures me I'm not dying lol!  I have plenty pain meds left over from the surgery, but I hate taking them, but tonight I'm going to have to~

Does anybody have any advice or words of wisdom??

You probably have scar tissue forming around a nerve.  Hot compresses would probably help.

Normal bad pain?  Um, why is bad pain normal?  I mean, yeah, right after surgery but this far out?  What do they say is causing it?  My advice is to insist that they take your bad pain seriously and start trying to figure out the cause.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

I had surgery on 9/12 and had the same sharp burning/pinching pain when I got up from sitting or moved wrong (mine was on my right side near the incision where my JP drain was after surgery). It is completely gone now thank goodness but I thought it would never go away. It's been gone for about 2 weeks now so maybe yours is almost over.
I found that putting a little pressure with my hand in the painful spot when trying to move helped some.

I had surgery on the 26th of September and had a relitively easy time with pain for two weeks then had no pain for 2 weeks and felt great. Was completely off pain meds. All the sudden I had sharp, burning, excruciating pain on my lower right abdomen. I went to the ER and they did a CT scan and said it was constipation.( I knew they were crazy)I took stool softner, which didn't help! I delt with it for another 5 days on the couch and finally called my family doctor. They did more tests and found nothing "wrong" with me! I was admitted into the hospital still not sure what was wrong! One of the surgeons decided to give me a shot(lanicane) in the pain spot. It was amazing that a few hours later I was able to get up with no pain. The pain returned by morning, but not as bad! They gave me another shot before I went home and within days I had no more pain! I hope you feel better soon!

Unfortunately I don't have any advice, but I have had the same pain when I engage my abs, bend over or move wrong. Sometimes it happens just for giggles. Grrrr! I'm a little over three weeks out and was doing great then last Monday it came back with a vengence. I had to go back on my Lortab and have had to take it since. My surgeon also said that it was "normal" and due to the internal sutures and nerves healing.

The only things that have given me some relief are the heating pad, a warm shower, walking and some gentle pressure – I have a little pillow I carry with me everywhere in case I have to sneeze or cough, god forbid.

I hope that yours will settle down soon. Mine, too, for that matter!

Thanks guys, even though the pain is pretty awful,  just knowing it is  A-normal and B- will go away... one day, does make me feel better, of course it may be the heating pad and the dilaudid I took about an hour ago

My Dr told me it can be nerve pain. Sometimes, they have to anesthetize that area to numb it. Mine comes and goes especially if I forget myself and move or lift something. I haven't taken any pain meds for it though.
