hmm last week double over in sharp stabbing pain had a ct scan was normal and blood work was good except for my liver test were abnormal. I had 2 servere attacks one last 45 min to an hour.. then again 30 min after eating lunch then it went away I stuck with soft diet the rest of the day then I was back to eating normally. The last few days just come and go dull pain. Today more of the dull pain in upper right under the rib cage had couple sharp pains but nothing like last Friday.

The surgeon office was suppose to call me back yesterday or today no call I call them at the end of the day but was told that the surgeon wont be in the office until Friday and the assistant already left for the day so hopefully she will get back to me tomorrow. Hubby is concern as he sees me holding my tummy alot. I try to hide it from him he just had back surgery 2 weeks ago so all my focus is taking care of him and our 2 kids. I had my gallbladder taken out Oct 2010 had my rny july 28, 2009. The assistant said it could be my bile ducts could be blocked? But either a utrasound or endoscopy would need to be done. But again I hear nothing more probaby because I never call back to say hey i am in pain since it wasnt' the stabbing pain I figure I could just deal with it by taking a pain pill and gas x just in case it is gas. Anyone have this issue before? Could abnormal liver test be block bile duct?

I wouldn't want to speculate what your situation could or couldn't be. You really need to get into a doctor asap.

Would it be possible to go to your local ER while you are having an attack so they can better evaluate what is going on?

I was sent on Friday to the hospital. I call in the mornnig after the first attack this was worst than my gallblader and hernia pain that I experience before.. She said to just to wait and see how things go and try to eat lunch if I get hit by another attack she would send me to the hospital for a stat ct scan with contrast and blood work. she call me and told me everythign was fine except my liver was elvauted. But told me to go home and if I had one of these severe attacks to call her again. Well it stop and had no stabbing pain but now I am getting the dull pain with some minor sharp pains where I hold my stomach but nothing like I had last friday.. So guess if she don't call me tomorrow I will call regardless if I am having symptoms or not i feel better if I get more test before it gets worst.

I have the EXACT thing you're describing! They've done Ct's, endoscopy and found nothing, can't explain why I'm having severe attacks that literally take my breath away and leave me unable to move for hours. My surgeon even went as far as to do exploritory surgery to see if he could find anything the tests weren't picking up. He removed some scar tissue but again...found nothing! No answers and their best guess is Irritable Bowel Syndrome which makes sense but I don't know that this is exactly that. They put me on Bentyl which is an antispasmodic that reduces the spasms that cause pain in the intestines and it helps! Does the pain get worse after eating? Mine does occasionally so I take bentyl before and it helps with the pain attacks. Most the time it's random at any given moment and for no reason at all!
I hope they find an answer for you! I'm still baffled and so is my surgeon. He's not blowing me off as if the pain isn't real or It's just Gas. You could have blockage there and phantom gallbladder pain isn't uncommon.
The one thing the CT did find was a cyst on my liver so maybe that could be part of it! Don't give up trying to find answers!! It sucks, I know exactly what you're going through!!

I had my gall bladder out 4 years before my RNY.  About 3 months after my RNY my PCP noted my liver enzymes were high. He thought that was strange since this is an indication of gall bladder problems and I did not have one and at the time was not having any pain.  He scheduled a CT scan for me.  Sunday, the day before the scan, I woke up in excrutiating pain similar to pain I had when my gall bladder was acting up. I ended up in the hospital and indeed my bile duct was blocked which then was causing me pancreatitis. I ended up in the hospital for about a week.

Does the pain come and go? I had my attacks on friday where I was crying and screaming in pain the first one last 45 min to an hour call the surgeon office took them until 11 am to call me back and all the assistant told me to keep an eye on it and try to eat lunch if it happens again to call her back immediately well 30 min after lunch the attack began again didnt last as long I took pain med and gas x but held a pillow against my stomach. Which I did when the first attack happen so after I call her back she sent me immediately for a stat ct scan and blood work but they had to wait for 4 hours after I ate because of the dye had to drink it plus get iv of dye too and it show nothing on the ct scan just elevated liver. My liver test in july was fine but she said it wasn't to high just elevated. Guess I need to ask them to fax me the blood results and ct scan results so I have it for my records. I had upper gi in July it show a small hernia at that time but surgeon it wasn't causing any pain and small not to worry about it but no hernia or bowel obstruction was seen on the ct scan. I hate when the test don't show what is wrong we don't imagine this pain

So what did they do for the block bile duct?

If I recall it was a pretty constant pain. I had suspected what it was from reading here.  I had my husband take me to the hospital where I knew my RNY surgeon could operate.  He along with a gastro surgeon cleaned me out and made a large opening so any future stones could pass easily.
