Prednisone and WLS

I am just wondering how any of you have dealt with being put on prednisone and WLS. I have been taking it for about a week now because of pneumonia and asthma. I am finding it makes me want to eat and I have not lost a pound since. I know it is a side effect and am just a little worried because I have not had that feeling of wanting to really eat since surgery. Any advice or similar stories out there?

How long will you need to be on it?  I think I would just fill my house with healthy, low cal things to munch, like fresh fruit, baby carrots, sugar free popsicles, etc. and then stay off the scale until I was done with the  meds.

I am going to be on it for at least 2 weeks. Hopefully, things will get better soon. I tried for 3 weeks to not have to go on it but no such luck. I am just trying to ea****ermelon and salads and grilled chicken and such. I bet Thanksgiving tomorrow is not helping either and maybe the wanting to eat is my old thinking. But not going to happen!

UGH I hate prednisone...life long asthmatic here. I agree with Kelly - just keep healthy, low cal stuff around. Keeping full of liquids seems to help me, too. I won't let my doctor give me prednisone unless I do a course of methylprednisolone (Medrol) first and it does not work. Yes, predinsone works, but I hate all the side effects and I can usually knock out any flares with the Medrol first.

The good thing is that you won't be on it long. I have a long history of being on and off steroids. It's really hard not to eat all the time.  I think you should give yourself a break..try to eat not the worst things but don't be upset or surprised if you don't lose weight this week.
I also take something like prolisec to protect my stomach when I am on steroids to decrease any ulcer formation;
I hope you feel better soon.
