I had gastric bypass in May 08 and have been having problems. Seems like about 90% of the time when I eat, no matter what I eat, I end up running to the bathroom. I don't know what could be causing it. Has any 3 years out ever experienced anything like this? If so, what do I need to do or have checked?

Also, what is the new surgery called that if you have had gastric bypass done that you can have this surgery? I have heard little about it and just curious. What kind of issues would call for you to have this surgery?

Thanks!

are you talking about a revisional surgery? They are done for several different reasons.  So when you say running to the bathroom do you mean toilet to throw up? or toilet because things are exiting the other end?

Hi! I am not sure what the surgery is called but I heard it was something new that if you had gastric bypass you could have this procedure done. When I say running to the bathroom i mean exiting..sorry I should have made myself more clear on that lol..

Thanks

I'm not sure what surgery you mean.  You can have many kinds of surgery after gastric bypass.

What does your doc think is causing you to get sick so much?

Hi! I was thinking it might have been my colon since I have had colon cancer in the past but just had a colonoscopy and everything looked good...I have not seen my dr that done my gastric bypass surgery yet.

Thanks

How long has this been going on for? Thats an important piece of the puzzle, Could it be dumping from the wrong foods? Not sure. I would go to your surgeon and possibly press for a second scope to be done. The history you have puts a whole new spin on things. It could be something unrelated to surgery, like a virus as well.

It has been going on for months so don't think it is a virus. Have had so much other medical stuff going on that I have been unable to go see my surgeon because he is like a little over an hour away (I have had back surgery and knee surgery from the back surgery all within 7 months)... I don't know what is causing it but when I am not running to that bathroom from when I eat then I am constipated..even my stomach dr doesn't know what it could be .

Thanks

thats a lot of surgery Sonya !  wow.....given your history - I would press for a second opinion on the scope, get another one. An hour away, is not alot - I would get to your surgeon, this does not sound normal to me, but see what the other members think. To go on for so long .....do you keep a food diary? Try documenting what you eat and how far after eating this happens for you. Maybe it could be something like IBS (irritable bowel).

I get digestive problems if I do not take my Pariet (acid blocker). But your case is much different than mine. With your history, I would just want to be extra sure.
