Questions, Questions Questions
Hi, I need all the wisdom and help I can get from this group. I am going to just bomb you with questons, first a little info. Had surgery on Wed, the 11th so I am four days out.
Did anyone struggle with depression after the procedure?
How am I suppose to get protein in if I am only suppose to be on clear liquid?
I have not had anything remotely close to a solid or kinda solid movement.
What I eat and drink leaves me within a half hour, normal for awhile?

COngrats on the surgery. Four days out, just relax and heal.
I didn't have any depression. Did you suffer prior to surgery? I do think that it may be common though.
I am no expert, only 8 weeks out. I was only on clear liquids for a week. I didn't have any protein. Some say that you should put it in your clear liquids, but i did not. I just sip, sip sip all day long. It is all about fluid intake right now. So don't fear.
As you don't have anything solid, you won't have anything solid leave you either so no worries.
Just know you aren't alone. It is all normal.
Best wishes
Catherine

No, but I have been on meds for depression for years. I lot of people do struggle with depression post surgery. You have gone through a huge change. If you continue to struggle then talk with your Dr. I also told my husband to watch out for signs of depression because of past issues.
I got my protein through protein shakes. You can also have broth.
Since you are not eating solids I wouldn't expect a solid movement.

No, everyone does not struggle with depression.
You are supposed to drink clear protein drinks, like Isopure or Cytosport (visit GNC or Vitamin Shoppe).
As long as you're on clear liquids, you may not have solid stool.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I was depressed and overwhelmed. Just try to focus on the fact that this stage will not last. In about a month from now, things will be looking much brighter. I will be praying for you! Also, I didn't get any protein till I was a week out. Just work on it when you are able to move to more substantial liquids.
