3days post-op and still in the hospital with atalectasis and an ileus
RNY on 01/25/12
I had my surgery on Wednesday morning. It took about 4 and 1/2 hours. Doc said I had an extreme amount of adhesions on my right side so he put an extra port on the left side rather than have another 3 or 4 hours on the table trying to get thru it all. He didnt want to keep me under that long.
Thursday was a pretty good day. I was able to get up and walk the halls quite a few times without any problems but by the evening, I was having chest pain and shortness of breath and the worst nausea I have ever had.
It is 9:45 pm on saturday night and I still have not been able to eat anything because of the nausea. Doc says that I have atalectasis in my lower left lung and that I have a small ileus in my bowel. Hoping things clear up soon so I can start eating and healing and get myself the heck out of this hospital! He said that prolly isnt going to happen in the next day or so though :(

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
I'm 2 1/2 years out and still have nausea. I hope they are giving you something cause I know that is just a bad feeling!
Hang in there! you are getting your share of complications out of the way right away so it will be smooth sailing from here on out! :-)

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!
