Stool Softners

Can you take stool softners everyday?

My doctor told me I could take Miralax everyday which has a stool softener in it.

my surgeons office told me I could take up to 4 a day. I do 2 currently and Miralax a couple times a week.

My doctor gave me a prescription for 2 Colace a day.

 Miralax is The Bomb. Seriously. They also have generic brands at Target and Costco that work just as well at about half the price.

I take 2 colace, 1/2 dose Miralax and 500 mg Mag oxide daily. I've been on this since 6 weeks post-op and is safe to do long term. A stimulant laxative is what you want to avoid long term, because it creates bowel dependency.
