Friend/Buddy Request
RNY on 08/14/12
Hey all!
I'm currently looking for some new friends and hopefully a WLS buddy. I'm currently on month 3 of a 6 month pre-surgery track and am struggling a bit with finding supports in my area. I'm attending the support groups at my surgeons practice, but once a month sometimes isn't enough. I'd love to be able to gain a little more support and although the forums are a great source of info, I'm much more of a 'personal contact' type of person- whether it's over the phone or in person.
I definitely feel as though I'm somewhat lost in this entire process. I have done my research, been dillegent about tracking my intake and hitting the gym, and am super motivated to change my life. It feels like the first time ever I am taking some serious steps to focus on me and my health and it's exciting and scary.
Ideally, I would love to find supporters in my general area (Baltimore) but at this point, I could really just use some general encouragement (and maybe even therapy-lol) from someone who knows exactly what I'm going through at this point in my life.
Thanks!!

Hi, I know how you feel, I am in my first month of the 6 month approval stage also. My high weight was 305 about 3 yrs ago. Last month I was at 285 and now I am at 279, so a little progress. I am a 48 yr old happily married Mom of 2 grown sons. But in my heart , I have always felt like I was still 18 ! This is my time in my life to focus on myself and to end this battle once and for all ! My surgeon encourages us to try to lose 10% of our pre surg weight and I guess I am off to a good start. Just been trying to get my head in the game. I have found this message board and website to be so helpful....and the support from those that are in all different stages of their journey..... priceless !! If you have a good support person at home, that is a blessing... my husband is retired Navy and is in very good shape, works out everyday and is a runner... so he is always supporting my efforts.
