How much weight did you lose Pre Op
RNY on 05/09/12
38 lbs. Surgeon said I had no fat at all inside me which made his job easier. My pre op was 6 weeks. And I have never had a pain, took any pain meds, never been sick so far. I really wonder if they did anything. Took gal bladder out as well. I feel great and can do anything. Swam today 2 weeks out. I think the more you can lose the better off you will be.

My doctor requires a 5% loss before he will put you on a surgery schedule. I started losing in Aug. when we went to learn about our program. Pre-op total I lost 30lbs. Didn't weigh at end of liquids. I have lost a lot in last 4 months post-op, more than I ever expected to lose this fast. Improving health overall is making the biggest difference. I am able to do more of everything.

None zippo! I didn't lose on the 6 month supervised diet either. If I could lose weight, I wouldn't have had this surgery.
No weight loss requirement since my doc thinks the added stress of trying to lose weight before the tool is provided is unproductive, stressful, and can cause gain. I just stopped drinking diet soda and lost 14 pounds between October and April.

I lost 73 lbs! In about 4 months. I just followed my pre-op meal plan. It was very easy. Protien, 3 servings, potatoes or toast, fruit, veggies and one fat, like avocado or olives. I had no problems cause it was all very balanced. I also Zumba'd my butt off. Literally! Or I'd swim and go for walks. I couldn't believe how fast it came off, but I was still determined to go ahead with the surgery, cause I've lost weight before, but losing it is one thing, keeping it off is a whole different story.

Two weeks before my surgery, they told everyone in my date group that we were expected to lose about 5 pounds before surgery on the restricted calorie diet. I was also told that if I had gained weight during the preoperative process, my surgery could possibly get canceled. I figured, "Oh, I should be fine. No way I gained weight."
So they put us up on the scale and sure enough, from my registration weight, I was up 7 lbs. It HAD taken me almost a year to get from registration to surgery, though, so I'd had plenty of time to gain those 7 lbs. So not only did I have to lose those 7 lbs I'd gained, but another 5 on top of that.
I managed to do it. I lost 11 or 12 lbs before surgery, in about two weeks. They didn't put me on a liquid diet. They just advised I stick to 1200 calories or less, protein first, low carb. I went a little nuts and stuck to roughly 600-700 calories a day instead. I was trying to "prepare" myself for a post-op diet.
I don't really remember much bathroom-running, though. :)
