I am still waiting on my insurance... its only been a week, but this is the third time that my paperwork has been submitted to insurance and again they came back NO!  Now, on the the appeal process -- how long does that take?  What are the chances of them coming back yes?  I need this surgery!  I want it and I've done everything they asked!  COMEON!!!  Help a girl out... sheesh!

Why did they say no before?

I have no idea how long the appeals process takes but if you call the insurance company and ask, they probably have a time limit, like 30 days or something, to give you an answer.

I was denied several times and all it was , was that not all the tests had been done and sent in , I called and talked to my case worker and she assured me that I was approved up until this point they just didn't have all the paperwork , it took the psych papers almost 3 weeks to get in.
A friend on here was denied because she was a non compliant patient ...WHAT???? nuh huh then she was denied because a wrong code was put in and said she had cancer..WHAT??? nuh huh.
It could be something very simple , I know how frustrating it all can be , hang in there!!!
If they cover WLS and you meet the criteria then it is a paperwork/code issue
Good luck

Have you had a consult with a surgeon yet? If so, they may likely be able to help you word documents. Or your referring PCP can likely write something on you behalf for the surgery. DAVE

Thanks friends!  My surgeon's office sent in for an approval back in February.  The insurance company denied it because I needed to do 6mos of weight management.  Now, I have completed that - so, they sent in again.  Unfortunatley, it was with in 6 months, so they should have done an appeal to begin with!  UGH!
