bowel prep

So two days before my surgery I am required to do a bowel prep. Since my surgery is on a Monday my bowel prep starts on a Saturday. For those of you who have done this were you confined to your home or were you able to go out and do things? My boyfriend and I have plans for Sunday, should I cancel them or should I be okay by then? what were your experiences like? Thanks :)

Start early in the morning Saturday and you will be done by the end of the day.  You will have to stay home Saturday and close to the bathroom.

 Yeah I actually did mine about 3pm saturday and spent the rest of the evening in the bathroom.  I was fine by Sunday.  FYI - Grape is SUPER sour - not sure about the other flavors. A nurse friend said to try Lemon on ice but I went against that for the Grape. ICK!  Suck it down with a straw if possible that's what I did.  

Oh and drink LOTS of water to rehydrate your body! 

I did actually get the lemon flavor. I was told to buy two bottles just in case. How will I know if I even need the second bottle?

 I wasn't told to get more then one. I'd stick with one you'll see the difference trust me!!! Lol 

I think they gave me the **** flavored one because I remember telling my family (who were poised around me with a video camera) that It tasted like I had licked a dogs butt.

 Too funny!

 I had scheduled a much-needed haircut and color for the day before surgery. I cancelled it and it was a good thing, too, because I lived in the bathroom for 48 hours. And that was with only one bottle of mag citrate. I drank half a day instead of the one per day prescribed--again, a good thing, because it was the gift that kept on giving, even in the surgery prep room. Oh, god.

Sounds like some people get it over with in a tidy fashion, but you can't count on that. 

Ok, I think I'm going to just plan for the worst and if I can leave the house on Sunday I will just consider myself lucky. I just hope the lemon flavor isn't too gross.
