Redundant I know, but please help me...............
I have been taking tyhe flinstone completes since preop and now I am 6 weeks post op. I know I need to get real bariatric multivitamins, but I am having such a hard time deciding. So I am going to throw out to you all my thoughts and see what you think or recommend,. PLEASE!
I have looked at Opurity, BA, Celebrate, Centrum Silver. Questions, are capsules OK? Everyone seems to elect the chewables. I don't like the BA because it says 6 capsules a day. I tried the chewable BA from a friend--
I like the Opurity concept but I also know that I would need 2 a day and not one. Also, any difference between Celebrate chewable and capsules? What about Centrum? Is it the silver or another one? Centrum is prob cheaper than all, but I really hate chewable. I would rather swallow a capsule. Is Centrum a huge honkin pill?

I have never been able to swallow pills so I've been taking the opti source bariatric vit. the doc's office reccomended. My doc's office actually sells their own vitamin for those who can swallow pills. They aren't very big but they have more than enough of everything but they are pricey.

You realize you need eight Optisource a day to get the 200% of the RDA of stuff the ASMBS says we need, right? And that they contain calcium carbonate, which we can't absorb, so you are taking calcium citrate too, right? And B12 in a sublingual, nasal spray, or shot?

Yes Kelly I know it's 8 a day but I haven't found another vitamin I can stand the taste of so at this point that's what I'm doing. I take 2- 4x a day.
I saw someone else post about an orange flavored chewable that I'm going to look for. The Centrum is some weird flavor that I gagged on as soon as I bit into it. I couldn't get it down.
I have B12 in a sublingual even though the doc said not to take it unless my labs showed I need it. I will be switching this to the shot though as it will be easier for me.
I am not taking Calcium at this point, no, doc said to wait until 4-6 weeks out and I am just 4 weeks tomorrow.
I'm also not taking the Potassium he told me to take "because most people need it". I just don't feel like I should unless my labs show "I" need it.

I am on a perscribed prenatal vitamine called preg vit. They are 2 small pills, pink one for morning and blue one for evening. I'm not sure why he wants me on a prenatal vitamin as I and not pregnant but that is what he puts us on. They are small so easy to swallow.

You do not need a bariatric vitamins. You do need an ADULT multi that is complete (Flintstones are not even though they put the word complete on the label).
Capsules or tablets are fine. Centrum is a pretty big pill. Most multivitamins are. They have to be in order to fit all the stuff we need in them. If they are real tiny, they are probably missing stuff.
Celebrate capsules aren't too big. I think you need three a day of those, instead of two like Centrum. BA has capsules too and I think they are even smaller but I think you also need six a day.
I use the Meijer store brand most of the time which is almost identical to Centrum only cheaper. You can cut a big pill in half if that makes it easier for you.

I usually get Walgreens generic, wait until they have a buy-one-get-one-free or get the generic adults multi from costco, or the silver-adult (ie without iron for menstruating women)
From two weeks after I ditched chewables. That was how long my centrum chewables lasted (our plan called for 400% US RDA for the first two months, then 200% US RDA for life after). Those chewables were disgusting, I was pleased to take pill vitamins after that.
