Celiac Plexus Block

Hi OHers.

I am scheduled for a celiac plexus block tomorrow and I am wondering if anyone here has ever had one for marginal ulcer pain.  If so, how was it?  Can you please tell me a little about your experience.  In short, they are going to go in through endoscopy and ultrasound and then apply a nerve block to the celiac plexus nerve bundle.  This will HOPEFULLY relieve the pain so I can be patient and let my marginal ulcer heal.  It does not appear to be healing at this time but the surgeon and gastro want to give it a few more months if I can stand the pain.  Of course, if the ulcer does not heal another surgery is inevitable but I am hopeful.

I am really scared.  I have had about 8 endoscopies over the year which are no big deal but this is more extensive and frightening.  Also, I have not even met the doctor perfoming it tomorrow.  He is a partner to my gastro.

Just wanted to say good luck...I am going through the same thing kind of ...having weird pain in upper abdomen...getting insurance to authorize same procedure....seems like some of us are experiencing the same thing!!!  Hang in there and good luck!!!
