Not sure yet as I have not actually seen the doctor, but I suspect I am having some arthritis pain.  Is there a prescription drug I can have in the event my doctor confirms arthritis?

Any suggestions would be tremendously appreciated.

Thank you!!!!!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. There are many medications. Some are by infusion, some are by injection, and some are oral. Your doctor will instruct you.

Make sure to let your doctor know if you have had RNY because you cannot take NSAIDS.

I was doing Tylenol , until that wasn't cutting it anymore , then went to Vicadin , switched to Norco and Lortab(liquid Norco) and now am using Butran pain patch , all narcotics , we limit what can be prescribed after RNY.
Talk to your doc , even if you don't have arthritis , you obviously are in pain .

Unfortunately, any NSAIDs --which are, by far, the most useful meds for arthritis -- are out.  If it is regular arthritis (rather than rheumatoid), the options are kind of limited.  There really aren't any oral anti-inflammatories you can safely take. So that leaves prescription pain meds (Tramadol and Vicodin are relatively common, depending on the pain level) or patches for pain and steroid injections for inflammation.  Some people are willing to use an NSAID gel (which still carries risk of ulcers) but even some people who use it find it doesn't help.
