Definitely ask your surgeon. I wasn't cleared to sit for longer than 30 minutes even if I got up and walked around due to the risk of blood clots from surgery for like 3 months after surgery. I didnt start out superly obese either so it's strange that some surgeons say its OK to travel soon after and others do not.

I had open RNY with band and gallbladder removal. I had no desire to travel for several weeks and stayed in my pjs at home. It took me a very long time to get over extreme fatigue. I'm still tired but it is not as bad as the first four months. I am so glad that I was not working.
Banded Oct 2008: 290

I don't think I could have. I was still sore and I couldn't tolerate much food. When you are on the road it is hard to find things you can eat.

Fatigue is one major problem with surgery. I barely made it to my post-op appointment 10 days after surgery I was so weak. I had terrible diarrhea, nausea and wicked migraines. No one knows how they are going to be feeling after surgery so this is something you will want to discuss with hubby. Even if you feel well at home, traveling is a whole different ball game. Thank goodness I didn't work, I would have had to be off for a long while. Then there are those that bounce right back and you may be one of them! But you know what? even with all the problems the surgery is so worth it! Just remember alot of things will pass and you will heal. I wish you the best! Jane
