Why does my mouth taste so bad

I've noticed since surgery I have a weird taste in my mouth all the time and my hubby says I have "medical" breath lol. What is with that?

I don't know if it's the same thing, but I went through a couple of months with a horrible metallic, salty taste in my mouth. Apparently it was from ketosis (fat burning.) Listerine breath strips helped a lot. Eventually it went away.

Hello Ketosis. When my body was going through it, not only did my mouth taste bad, but smelled bad along wth my skin. Once you are able to get more Carbs (I think it's carbs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong) you will notice your symptoms going away. GOOD LUCK and just keep pressing forward! For every bad there is a whole LOT of GOOD to take it's place!!!

Thank goodness. I have the same thing and Ive been brushing my teeth 5 times a day thinking something is wrong..lol Great question!!!

Ok...I have been wondering. My doc said ketosis is the reason I feel nauseous also. It's so hard to get enough food down at this point and today I feel "off" so I'm not even sure I'll be getting any down today. Thanks for the replies!!

Wow, I never thought about ketosis, but that has to be it. I've been noticing the same thing & mentioned it to my dental hygienist, she gave me a herbal mouthwash that kicks it. Glad to know I'm not rotting away on the inside. I really thought I had a bronchial thing going on. Was sucking on SF mints all the time, now with the mouthwash I don't notice it as much.

I asked my doctor that yesterday, and he said the same thing. But I also had a yeast infection in my mount that wasnt helping it all. If you tongue looks like it is covered in a white film thats the yeast. Thank goodness its an easy fix.

Ketosis, happened to me as well it was kinda funny at first because I thought it was my husand who smelled so bad and I finally said something to him about it and he laughed and said "oh no honey it's YOU! YOU stink! I just didn't want to be mean and say anything" It doesn't last forever I remember it off and for maybe a couple of months post op.
