so i have been taking centrum vitamins since surgery. first the chewable and then the pills.

i bought the new centrum under 50 vitamins and usually take my iron all at the same time

Well i had lab work done in August and again this month

my ferretin had dropped from a 19 to 12.

Today i looked at the calcium in 1 pill is now 200 mg and i take 2 so evidently it is blocking the absorption of my iron

So back to the drawing board. i guess i will be taking iron at another time.

I have been doing the bariatric advantage calcium also and am very constipated so I will be adding magnesium oxide to try to help with that

So is the calcium blocking my iron absorption or has it just tanked????

Iron and calcium cant be taken together. You need to take them at least two hours apart. Other wise, yes, your iron will be affected.
Here's what I do:
Multi, B12, B1
2 hours later, calcium, Vit. D
2hours later, multi
2hours later, calcium
2hours later, calcium
2hours later, iron, Vit. C

Yep. I think most of us take iron separately.
