Lots of headaches??
RNY on 10/15/12
I've been having headaches since surgery (5 days ago), even when on the IV at 200cc an hour. They even ended up having the pain management doc come in because the pain meds they were giving for my surgery pain wasn't doing anything for my headaches at all.
They are continuing to happen everyday. I was worried it was the lortab, so I stopped taking it, but I'm still getting them.
Also very stiff and sore neck. I don't know if I'm sleeping funny or what. Can't get comfortable at all to sleep. I never have slept on my back and it hurts too much (stomach hanging on the side) to sleep on my side. I even put a little travel pillow under my stomach, but it doesn't help.
I have a hospital bed at my parents house (where I am now, I live 3 hours away from the surgeon) but cannot get comfortable.
Is this normal? I don't want to call the doctor on a weekend over a headache, but they are pretty bad at times.
Thanks

This is going to sound crazy, but are you walking and drinking enough? Stiffness after surgery usually is directly related to not getting up and walking enough. Headaches can be directly related to not getting enough fluids. Hoping this is the case for you so it's an easy fix! I cannot stress enough, and I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say this, that walking and sip sip sipping are SO important!!! Hope you feel better soon!

I went to the doctor soon father my surgery for the same thing. They ran tests and basically told me that your body is adjusting to the new routing. They told me not to forget...you just had major surgery. I focused on getting my water and vitamins and not pushing too hard. 3 weeks later, I can sleep on my side at night. It does get better.
