Hey everyone its been a long time since Ive been here so I just wanted to see what has been going on? I see there have been a few small changes to the site. Has anything else important happened within the OH community? Also this may be a little off topic but has anyone noticed that more and more surgeons are performing the gastric sleeve procedure these days? I wonder if there have been studies showing that is is safer long term than the RNY that we had? Kinda scary to think about after having had the procedure right? Anywho I hope you have all been well and look forward to any updates from the OH world.

Hi Megan,

Insurance just started covering the sleeve in MA last year, maybe other states have added it to their coverage too. I think that money (insurance) is a deciding issue for most people. I only had RNY or the band to choose from, and there was no way that I was having the band! I am happy with my surgery.

It was the same thing with me I only had those two options and I wanted the permanent one so I went with RNY. I would have jumped at the chance to have the sleeve though, I think there are probably less complications long term with that procedure.
