How much do you spend on vitamins each month?
It is rather negligible. I buy my Multivitamin and sometimes Calcium Citrate at Sam's or Costco and since they bundle huge amounts it might be $10/month. I get Easy Iron and sometimes Calcium Citrate from Amazon and it was like $19.00 for 3 months worth. Now at first you may want to start with the chewable bypass specific supplements, depending on your tolerance to crushed pills. The vitamin and calcium didn't taste like anything but chalk to me crushed but that bothers some. Make sure to get the correct version of Calcium per your treatment team recommendations. Most of the chewy ones are calcium cabonate which we do not absorb with RNY. You should get a HUGE variance in responses to this one since everyone seems to do different things that work best for them and their treatment team has different recommendations. I don't think I would use the supplement route to base your decision on. More so, I would investigate the success rate and long-term sucess rate and that sort of thing between the two. I can tell you that I received RNY in May 2012 and my sister a Sleeve in July 2012 and I am much happier with my results than she is, but then again you have to look at all the variables. I'm 7 years younger, male, and have had periods of thinness and exercise over the years that she has not.
Good luck with your choice!!

I buy all of mine at CVS when they have their BOGO sales. I probably spend $25-30/month. I'm 4 years out and my labs are good.

I buy generics - not the fancy schmancy stuff (my labs are very good BTW) and I spend between $10-20 per month I would say - mainly Costco and BOGO at Walgreens/Kings Soopers etc ...
I take a few extras - probiotic every day, magnesium oxide to counteract constipation with calcium/prevent leg cramps etc so I would expect you might want to do the same with a sleeve anyway ...

I am still wabbling back and forth between the RNY and the sleeve. The main things that holds me back from the RNY is the cost of upkeep. How much do you spend on vitamins each month?
Your input is really appreciated!
I calculated that I spend $1.06 per day, and that includes all the recommendations of the ASMBS, plus D3, A an zinc, which my labs have shown I need, plus magnesium oxide to prevent constipation and vitamin C to aid the absorption of the iron. I would not choose one surgery over another based on the cost of vitamins. They aren't that expensive.

I'm still finding out how much things are, at the different stores. So far, it seems that Sam's may be the best choice for me. That being said, right after surgery, I was taken off of several prescription medicines that cost much more than the vitamins are coming out to be. Some of my co-pays for one prescription was more than a month supply of all the vitamins. My protein powders and EAS premixed drinks are MUCH cheaper at Sam's. In bulk saves.
