So, in the week since I had surgery, I am completely amazed at how the way I perceive flavors has changed. Even on just this clear liquid diet, my favorites are now way too sweet. It's going to be really interesting to see what other preference changes happen, especially since I was a SUPER picky eater pre-surgery.

Out of curiosity (and for fun)--what were some of the more notable or interesting taste changes you experienced after surgery? Not necessarily what your pouch does/doesn't like but more what you do/don't enjoy the flavor of and how it's changed.

Packaged lunch meats. Ick. The thought of any of them makes me want to gag. I loved smoked ham and pastrami prior to surgery, but now I can't stand them. I have to buy my lunch meat from the deli, and freshly sliced.

Well, I don`t think my taste buds have changed post-surgery. I still enjoy food and drinks (crystal light - diluted, water, chamomile tea, decaf coffee).

I didn't find any taste differences from before surgery to after, although I have heard that a lot of post ops do. Recently (I am 4 years out) I don't like the salty flavor of cheese sticks

I was a steakaholic before surgery, specifically KC strip steak, which was my all time favorite food. Now - I have no desire or taste for steak at all.
