It's Been Far Too Long!
Hey Everyone,
Happy New Year! It seems like forever since I posted last and I figured it is time for an update! I am slightly over 8 months post op from having gastric bypass on April 30, 2012. I am down about 80 pounds and still have a bit to go! I am right at the border of Onederland, but it is teasing me! In my last update, I mentioned I signed up for my 1st half marathon, well it is fast approaching and I am happy to say I am still training! I did not think I would ever make it this far, but I ran my 7 mile run on Monday in 75 minutes and didn't even have to stop! When I finished my run, I almost started crying, but I did not want the people on the treadmills next to me to be like what the hell is wrong with her?! HAHA! I have come so far! I will continue updating you as I continue on this journey, but I have booked my flight and hotel and will be flying down to New Orleans for the Rock n' Roll half on February 24th!!! Can't wait!
On New Years Eve, I closed on my very first condo and I am currently a home owner!
2012 was sure a whirlwind for me from preparing for surgery, having surgery, adjusting to my new lifestyle, having my bf break up with me after 3 years, relocated from RI to MA, was promoted twice at work, started training for my 1/2 marathon and bought a house! 2012 was a very successful year for me and I want to thank my surgery for giving me the willpower to become ME again! I have never been so happy :-)
Below is something I recently posted on my Facebook page and got so many Likes and comments. I never realized how I have inspired so many people! It was such a great feeling to write:
"Never say you can't do something!! 8 months ago, I took control of my life and have never been so happy....Down 80 pounds and just killed a 7 mile run, bring it on 13.1 it's crunch time :-)"
Talk to you all soon!
Your update gave me warm fuzzies. Amazing what can happen when we reclaim the life we were born to live! So proud of you - keep at it! I can't wait to join you in the "runner's club" - hoping to train for my first 5K for April, if my PT clears me (foot issues). Good luck as you continue on your healthier, happier life!
