OT wedding cake testing

My daughter is getting married March 9th and we have the cake testing the 18 of Feb.  I am almost 2 years out (in May) and I am afraid I will dump from doing this testing.  Should I try it or just let my hubby and daughter decide the flavors.  It really stinks that I cannot be apart of this process.  I thought about taking really small bites but it scares me.  So tell me OH friends what would you do?

I am new here, and haven't had surgery yet, but hubby has lost 160 lbs from the surgery and I'm next on the list.  I would have everyone there narrow it down to there 2 or 3 favorites, then would only have to do the test on those.

If there are only 4, I would think a tiny bite of each would be enough to try but not enough to upset your tummy

How about tasting but not swallowing, just daintily putting it in heavy paper napkin you bring along?

What would I do? I'd let them narrow it down to their top 2-3 and I'd have one bite of each and give my opinion. That way you aren't sampling them all. It would also depend on if you dum*****t? I don't dump on small amounts, haven't tested just how far I could go but I can do three small bites of cake.

At the end - you not plan to eat that anyway - so I would let them pick the cake and maybe have a very small bite of the one they pick. Really small bite.

Very good ideas.  I don't really dump I think anyway.  But I do get hot and not feel kind of bad when I have to much sugar.  But I like all of your ideas.  Thanks for the help and suggestions.

As a wedding cake baker I have provided a lot of tastings for couples... Couples. no parents were ever involved.

It's just cake. It's not that big of a deal. Seriously, no one will remember the flavor, apart from recalling whether the texture was good and not dry and crumbly and if the buttercream was pleasing and not too salty or buttery.

Maybe your daughter and her fiance could decide on the cake flavor?  That way you wouldn't have to risk dumping on the sugar.
