9 Months Post Op Trouble Staying on Track
I had my RNY in May, and I had my gallbladder removed at the end of December. Before the gallbladder removal I was great with exercising but after the recovery time I became lazy. Now I hardly ever exercise and I keep eating complete crap; fast food, pizza, chips, ect. I am also having a lot of issues with over indulging in wine and acting like a fool and the night always ends in vomiting. I have lost a lot of weight and I am really happy about it but I want these last 25lbs gone, and I am feeling so stuck. I feel like im ruining my new pouch with my bad behavior. The stress of life and all my friends habits are so hard on me. Is anyone else experiencing these types of things? I really want to get back on track. Finding the will power is so hard right now. I am terrified of gaining weight back. Anyone have advice on how to get myself back in this?
Are you in therapy? You say that stress is making it hard for you to stay on track and you also say that you're drinking too much wine and behaving in ways you don't like or think are inappropriate. You're also drinking so much that you end up vomiting, but it sounds like you do it again and again despite the consequences. So I think therapy might be helpful here.

You know, it's not at all uncommon for people to quit going to therapy for a while, for various reasons, and then go back. I would just call and make an appointment. You can tell the therapist you're embarrassed. But I'm quite sure you're not the only client that has ever missed a bunch of appointments.
Were you finding it easier to stay on track when you were going to therapy?

I echo Kelly's statements - call your therapist! If a therapist had only clients who never canceled and never missed appointments or never dropped out of therapy, then the therapist wouldn't be in practice for long - - because therapy's boring to practice on perfect people! Just kidding!
But seriously, no shame in re-engaging in therapy....
