What is polyglycitol?? Is that sugar alcohol?? Should I be staying away from this?? I found some sugar free hard candy and wanted a piece for something sweet. On the package it says sweetened with Splenda. 4 pieces is 45 calories, 0 fat, 0 sugars but 15 g of polyglycitol.

Yes, it's a sugar alcohol which can have laxative effects. I'd use caution when consuming this product for the first time, and start with a small amount until I knew what to expect.

They are very small pieces of hard candy. But I won't be buying them again. I just needed something sweet and that was what was available. You live and you learn

if it doesn't have a laxative effect on you there isn't an issue with it. many people have no issues with sugar alcohols, myself being one of them.

Most ingredients ending in -ol are sugar alcohols.
