I'm curious for those who are 1 1/2+ years out, how much did you regain when you hit that "rebound"? I'm just wondering because everyone is different, so I know no two experiences will be the same. It was something I thought about after my last support meeting. Thanks!

I didn't gain anything bac****il I was about 2.5 years out, and that's when I was prescribed a medication that often causes weight gain.  In six months I gained about 23 lbs.  I discontinued that medication (with my doctor's approval) at that point and then lost about 8 of those pounds.  However, my lowest weight was 18 lbs below goal, so I wasn't that upset at gaining a little back.  I was just afraid I was going to  keep gaining, which is why I wanted off that medication.

I was 10 pound under and gained 20. It was a long slow journey to get back to goal. Try to lose to below your goal so you have a regain cushion

I am up about 7 lbs from my lowest of 118 at 18 months post op. Believe me I needed the extra lbs. because I looked terrible. That weight was almost 30 lbs below my goal. I now range between 122 and 126 and am thin as a rail.

I had no weight gain and do not believe in "rebound". There is a point that we start to absorb all of the calories that we eat, and if you continue to eat the same way then you will gain weight. That is why this is a life long process. If you see that you are trending upward (not just a temporary water weight), then you need to decrease calories or permanently increase exercise. Also as we age we naturally burn fewer calories. That amount is only about 10 calories a day every year, but it add up to pounds over time.

If you want to keep your weight loss without gaining, then you have to keep on top of it for life. It is a lifelong process and if you do gain it is because you have eaten more than you burned. It is easier to lose 5 than it is to lose 10 or 15.
