OT - Hip Revision
I have been in pain for two years with what was called a loose rod from a left hip replacement. It has been getting worse and my ortho surgeon cancelled my revision surgery the day of surgery back in October. He said I needed to see someone at a bigger hospital to do the complicated procedure which was to take place as soon as I recover enough from my RnY on 3/13.
Went across state to see the other doc, to find out that the rod is not loose and the pain is from cut muscles and soft tissue injuries during the initial surgery. So......I will not need a second surgery, which is GREAT news but will have to go through a long and difficult PT program to strengthen everything again. Right now, I have to lift my leg with my arms to get it into the car.
I am so thankful that I will not require a second surgery!!!
Well, that's definitely a "good news, bad news" situation, but I am glad you can avoid another surgery. Two years is a long time to have pain from the initial surgery, so the muscle must have been VERY damaged during the initial surgery.
Hope the PT helps!
