NSV...unexpected!

In my other life I could have eaten a whole bag of potato chips and I've had a few chips (not bags) since RNY.  I don't dump with fried or sweet foods but TODAY  I ate 3 or 4 and yuck!  I can't stand them.  They are disgusting.  YAY.  Crackers are another snack that I don't crave or even think about even when DH is loading them up with PB.

Mexican burritos, salsa loaded appetizers are other things that i can't eat but I'm not going to complain about that.

What are some surprises that you have discovered since RNY that  you loved in your other life?

That is so great that you can say yuck to a potato chip! I wish I could have that reaction to them! I was at a birthday party the other week, ate 1 chip, then 2,3,4 and was YUM all the way! What I learned for next time I am somewhere with chips out, I'm better off not even having one, as I did, and now know, still do love them... Yikes!  My one food, which isn't a "bad" food that I liked pre op was carrots, and now I really don't like them at all... Even the smell of a carrot makes me think yuck...

I am surprised that at 18 months out I can have that reaction for the first time.  And yes, I'm very happy about it..  Maybe there is a time coming for you too.

I had the same reaction with diet coke yesterday!!! I am still preop, but gave up my life-long love of diet coke 6 months ago when I began this process. Yesterday I didn't wan****er, but didn't have many choices. I took a small glass of my long lost love, and didn't even fini**** ...it just helps me to realize that if I could break that bad habit, I can break probably any of them.

Diet coke was the last thing that I gave up, even though the 5th or 6th one of the day didn't taste good.  My head thinks that I still want it but one sip isn't comfortable so I'm not getting back into that habit.  I'm afraid that if I cave to diet coke, everything else is lost.  Your last comment it right on.  ..it just helps me to realize that if I could break that bad habit, I can break probably any of them.

For me it is pastries and cookies!  I just have no desire.  I saw a donut in a bag with the grease stains and I thought, wow, I am so glad that I no longer want those!

I like to bake cookies for grandkids but I have no desire to have them in the house.  Especially the commercial brands aren't that good if you really take the time to be honest.  Same with pastries.
