I know my dr and nutritionist want me to try and get all my fluids and protein shakes in but I am not hungry at all. I am only 5 days post op and i can get about an ounce in at a time. I don't want to push myself to get it in because I don't want to puke. I'm thinking my puch is still swollen. Did anyone else have this going on?

I was not hungry or thirsty either but my husband would remind me every few minutes to drink. He would even bring my protein shakes and liquids to me when in bed since I was opened and had complications.

You need to drink every few minutes. You do not want to have to go back in the hospital for dehydration or worse. Please take care!

I was drinking about 1 oz every 15 minutes. Just keep sipping. Eventually you'll be able to get more in. But for now, just sip. I even had a little one ounce dish that they have me at the hospital that I would use and I'd set the timer and every15 minutes I'd fill it up again.

Even now, i never get hungry.  But i can tell when i need to eat.  Pretty much you need to start listening to your body and your tummy.  if it is making noises sip something.  It will take a while to get used to your new stomach but eventually you will know when to eat or drink.  good luck to you!

I am also getting sick of drinking the same things too. I have been trying to switch things up and add the sugar free syrups to some of my protein shakes. I saw a suggestion on here a few days ago of the wonton soup without the dumplings in them. OMG It was amazing and my tummy tolerated it!!!! YAYYYYY. It was an awesome break from the protein shakes and other liquids.

Keep sipping, staying hydrated is very important right now you don't want to become dehydrated.  The protein will come as you heal, don't stress about not getting in what your surgeon wants right now.

I was never hungry either but made it a point to sip on liquids.  I did find hot/warm liquids worked much better than anything cold.

Yeah at first it's pretty annoying - you're not hungry and you have no desire to eat or drink - but you have to.  I had really bad dizzy spells at first cause I wasn't eating or drinking.  It may seem like your not hungry but your body is thirsty and needs the protein.  You should be able to do broths so like even a chicken noodle or a vegetable noodle without the noodles of course. hahaha Also 5 days out I was allowed puree items such as refried beans.  It was literally the only thing I wanted to eat everything else made me nauseated.  Of course now I can't stand refried beans. Ha! :)
