Cookies, cake, candy..................
Don't you just love holidays?? I'm happy to say I made it though Easter with only eating a egg, ham, a taste of potatoes and corn!! I did well!! But dang it.......................those cookies looked so good!!!
Holidays can be so difficult. We build our culture around food and family. Breaking old habits can be so tough. But going in with a plan and avoiding temptation is so important. I'm struggling with all the candy around my house right now....If it were up to me I would throw it all away, but my kids should be able to have some treats. Good for you today....hang in there, someday soon you will have a taste of cookies again.
I think this is the first Easter I did not have at least one piece of candy. But went out for a real nice, but very expensive, dinner. I really don't miss the candy anyway.

I have never been one for candy.
However, our Cardiac floor at my hospital-which I work on always does party meals for the holidays, etc.. and they now make sure they include plenty of protein that I could have. They know what I can have and can't and at least give me something that I can eat-albeit it is a small amount, but at least I can have a little of it.
Tomorrow morning will be the first time hubby and I have gone out for breakfast since my surgery in December 2012. I will have one scrambled egg and one piece of bacon.
I still feel no hunger-or urge to eat. I have 3 meals a day-of protein. They say I can start soft vegetables, but I find that by the time I eat my protein I have no room for the veggie and so I have that for a snack plus, I have low sodium v8 juice with protein powder so I get my 23 grams of protein along with veggies.

Every Easter, every holiday that involves treats (and they all do) I have always been a candy binger. This is the first year since I have been able to feed myself (and I'm 51!) that I haven't eaten my helping and raided everyone elses as well. I'm just over 3 months post-op and the fear of possible dumping has kept me away from all candy so far! I hope by next year I'm able to make the choice, not from fear of dumping, but from wanting to treat myself really, really well. Right now, I'll take whatever works!
This was my first Easter since the procedure (19 November 2012), and it so happened that I was the cook! Made the family their favorites, and, surprisingly, the sweets and such didn't appeal to me. I was all in for a deviled egg portion, a slice of ham, and a forkful of collards, but that was my limit, and I enjoyed what I had. :D
