UGHHHHH Re-gain!
Just posting for accountability...
I am 3 years out. Had a low weight of 116 (too low on a 50 year old woman) I was most comfortable at 120-125. I hit 136 this am.
So.... cutting the crap (mostly crackers and popcorn, which I do not need) and increasing my protein. To help kick-start things, I am going to to a few days of mostly protein drinks...that should help break the nasty carb-monster!
Wish me luck :)

Reverting back to a diet mentality is going to be cyclical for you, I think. Better to adhere to the lifestyle you KNOW you should be living (protein forward diet FROM FOOD, exercise, vitamins) than to yo-yo diet - presumably that's why you had RNY - so you could lose the weight and not have to constantly go on diets? What you are proposing is that stupid 5 day pouch test fad which has no real place in an RNY'ers life - especially one who wishes to maintain their weight healthily.
You can lose that regain with a sensible eating plan and without reverting back to protein shakes - which are just a deprivation at this stage of your journey.
Good luck - most of us have been there!
ETA: feel free to ignore my advice - you are a grown woman who will determine how she lives her RNY life - *I* just feel happier giving you sensible healthful suggestions and not hand patting your current decision!

No, not doing the "pouch test"...just a few of days of mostly protein shakes just to kill the carb cravings. It works for me...I have done it before and I don't consider it a diet as I still use protein drinks to meet my protein needs.
My only other alternative for protein is greek yogurt as I don't tolerate meat, eggs, and fish well.....Tofu tastes like monkey butt! Can't eat enough beans to get in the necessary protein Cheese is too high fat. Sadly, the things I tolerate best are crackers and popcorn (aside from the yogurt)...hence the problem to begin with!

Since I am "new" what is" pouch" test? Thanks
Can I ask a question? Have you discussed the intolerance of dense proteins with your surgeon? It concerns me that all of those choices don't work. I know people have different intolerances it is just concerning that all of those bother you. What exactly is your reaction to them? Wonder if your stoma needs to be stretched. Bit to allow for more dense protein.
I don't think mentally I could eat the few things you eat every day. I need variety.

I just hurts to eat the dense protein Sometimes I vomit, but it mostly just hurts. I have not talked to the doctor...not interested in changing things as this has probably helped me to avoid a huge regain. Backwards thinking...but i know my weaknesses.
Eating is no longer an enjoyable thing for me...same things everyday...it's ok though.... less to get me in trouble!
