How long after surgery before you can...Smoke marijuana?
This forum is for any questions that people may have regarding bariatric surgery. Not for judgmental people to comment on things they are obviously not educated about.

I've heard that it is ok in moderation after about 3 months. Just be careful of the munchies. If you do a search on this forum you will see where other people have asked the same question. To the other person that commented. It is prescribed for some people for medical reasons and it is legal in a few states.
The search option is kind of hidden. It is on the right end of the blue bar at the top of the page. When you click on that you can search for anything, but if you want to search just the forums you have to click right next to the input and then you get a drop down. I think that the forums option is at the bottom.

Hi kikidoll,
Its been two weeks since I had my gastric bypass. I am located in Ontario, Hamilton to be exact. Before surgery you had to stop smoking 6 months before even getting an appointment. And they pretty much told me that you shouldn't go back to smoking of any kind for at least a year which is how long it typically takes to stretch your stomach to what you want. Smoking causes alcers and since your stomach is so small after surgery. ( I was told the size of your thumb) it would be really bad to get an alcer. You could ask your surgeon but this is what my surgeon told me. All the best!!!!
I'd check with your surgeon. I know that smoking tobacco after RNY greatly increases your risk of ulcers but I'm don't know if smoking pot has the same effect or not. I'm thinking it might depend on how often you smoke it, too.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I loved when I stopped in Jamaica for my cruise although I have to say that bareback riding on the beach and in the surf is way more romantic SOUNDING than it really was. The backbone of that horse kept slamming into my tailbone area.
Hubby chose a different outing with my dad, and I went with dad's bit'o'fluff. They tried a bit since it was, after all, jamaica. :)
