Judging the size of my new pouch and so much more

At first when I got past the liquid stage, then on came the task of learning to know when I was full. I was not able to tell at first until it was way too late. It was like I had no sensation of even getting full. I know it could be because of the cutting of the nerves in my stomach during RNY. I am getting better at it. The only thing I catch myself doing is fixing more than I need.(this is when measuring comes in handy) The saying my eyes were bigger than my stomach is oohhhh so true now. I am also learning how to eat small bites and eat slowly. I know many people normally wouldn't think this is a big deal, but I do. I was so used to eating huge portions and scarfing it down within a atter of minutes. And searching new , healthier foods is so much fun. I only used to think about the things that I couldn't eat without even checking out what I could. Ohhhh I am just so excited!!! Oh and also a question. How far out were you able to try and eat spaghetti squash? I'm trying it tomorrow for the first time since my surgery but more chopped up!!! Wish me luck on it!!

Yes, measuring is your friend for a few months if you don't  feel fullness right away.  I was fortunate and could feel a full sensation very clearly by the time I was a week out and eating real food (I started soft foods on Day Three).

I was probably 2 months out when I ate some spaghetti squash when it came into season and was inexpensive.  I had no problem with it, but I had no problem with ANYTHING even very early.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I got moved to soft foods today. I had 4 tiny chunks of chicken. Pain for hours

No more chicken for me!

Chicken does not work for many of us.  Even at five years out, I am careful of it.  Tuna will be a lot easier to eat.

I have to measure too.  I'm 2.5 weeks out and don't get a feeling of fullness.....until I'm TOO full.  I'm learning!  I did get some child sized spoons and forks and find that helps with remembering to take small bites.  I've never been a fast eater, so that's not too much of a problem as long as I pay attention to what I'm doing.

I haven't tried any veggies, so can't help you there.  A little scared to branch out very much.

i am just shy of 2 months out and I had the same concerns you do. I do get a hint that i am getting full when my nose runs so that helps a little bit, but I do not get a full feeling until its too late and starts to hurt. My biggest trouble is eating slowly I still can not manage to do it after 39 years of eating the same way its hard to change but I try every day.

Good luck with the squash i love that stuff and all vegetables. I am going to slowly transition back to Atkins. I dont have luck with breads or pastas so may as well go back to that lifestyle like i did in the past.

good luck !
