60 pounds lost but still in same size pants and frustrated

I am almost 3 months post-op. I've lost 60 pounds as of this morning so I am super happy. However, I'm still wearing the same clothes!  My tops are a little roomier but not so much that one size smaller would fit. Same for my pants---I prefer to wear a belt but one size smaller (in the same brand) is so tight I can barely button them and could never be seen in public wearing them.

I guess I'm just frustrated because after loosing 60 pounds I thought I might be able to buy smaller pants. I'm not sure where exactly my weight loss is coming from. My waist has only lost 1 inch---and this is part of the problem....I don't have any kids but I have that  "baby belly" and I can't seem to make it shrink.

Anyone else experience this or have any words of advice/encouragement? I keep telling myself I will need new clothes soon...I'm just not sure when that will be. I just went back to work this week and getting in my 2 hours of exercise a day is becoming very difficult so I know the weight isn't going to be coming off as fast as before either....delaying my new clothes even longer.

I wore the same size pants at 300 lbs as I did at 230 lbs - hazard of buying "big girl clothes" that are all sorts of stretchy.  I've lost an amazing 38 lbs (43 from my highest), and don't expect to have to buy new clothes anytime soon.  Then too I also wear my shirts big (always have).  From my banding experience I know that one day I walked in to a store wearing size 24 pants, and walked out wearing size 16's.  Thus is the power of the stretchies!  I'll get there again, but expect it will take a while.  If clothes sizes aren't doing it for you, pay attention to other stuff - how you're feeling physically, what kind of energy you have, what kind of exercise you're able to do, and even ye ole dreaded scale (which sounds like it's treating you quite nicely).

I too wear stretchy pants and , for the most point, they still fit after having lost over 50 pounds. However, this morning I tried on a skirt which didn't have an elastic waist, which was always too tight to wear, buttoned the waist and the skirt promptly fell down to my ankles!

Hang in there, it'll get better. You might consider going shopping and trying on clothing without stretchy waistbands just to see what your "real" size is. You don't need to buy then, but go try some stuff on. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Skirt falling to ankles? CONGRATS!  That's awesome.  I do have one dress I'm dying to fit into again...but right now I'm still not comfortable enough to wear skirts or dresses. I know my day is coming soon though!  If I could get rid of this little pouch I think more stuff would fit.

The bigger sizes take far longer to drop a size. But be careful what you wish for once you get to the smaller sizes 10 pounds can drop you a size or two and buying clothes, even used can get expensive the first year.

I know it's hard not to see the results where we want to but it will happen soon.

I also wouldn't worry too too much about lessening your exercise your body may respond very well to the rest and drop some inches!

While the weight will slow down with less work outs, it will start to slow down a little bit each month anyway. I have done very little formal exercise for various reasons including a hernia after my first 2 weeks at the gym at 5 mo. out and the weight still dropped, you just may have to be more diligent with your food then you were when working out.

You'll get there! Hang in there!

Thanks guys!  I don't really wear stretchy pants (well I guess Lane Bryant jeans do have spandex in them so technically I do--but nothing with elastic waistband except pjs)....but I will keep on trucking on. I didn't want to buy a whole new wardrobe (as I was hoping to keep dropping weight)...but I REALLY wanted to buy one new pair of jeans. :)  I won't have any problem when I get to size 16 (22 now) as I have a whole tub of clothes from when I was that size before....just none between here and there. Must be I utilized that stretch to the best of it's ability on my way up.

Thanks for the encouragement and for letting me know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Well I haven't had sugery yet so I can't speak from experience, but I've seen alot of people on here who say that the belly fat puts up quite a fight to go away... and sometimes is one of the last places you'll start to notice getting smaller.  Maybe that could be it ??  60 lbs is fantastic though !!!

I had to loe 50 pounds before I lost one full clothing size,a n has to lose almost as much to lose the NEXT size, but -- as someone else already mentioned -- it takes much less weight to change sizes the smaller you get.  Now, less than 10 pounds means the difference in a size for me.

Also, may people lose weight from the extremities and face  --  all places that do not affect clothing sizes much -- before they lose significant amounts in the thighs, belly, bust, and butt... so it takes longer for the weight to come off in the places that impact clothing size.

i remember how frustrating it was to not be able to wear smaller pants.  Hang in there.  It will happen.

I won't even allow myself to try on jeans yet. I have lost almost 40lbs, no way is that going to happen.

With that said, I have gone from size 28 to size 22 in dresses. This is where stores like ROSS and TJ MAXX come into play!

Cheap clothes for losing weight that look good. I bought my first maxi dress, then went back 2 days later and bough another. Hopefully by summer we can both fit into new pants ;)

I didn't change that first size for awhile and once I did the sizes started changing faster than expected so I did waste money buying a couple of sizes in slacks and wearing them once or twice.  Some I could take back because they had tags on them and I had receipts.   I also skipped a size so don't be disheartened at this point.  Just trust it is going to happen.
