The scales stops for me!!  First time I've had a week pass that I did not lose.  It's heart breaking!!  I know, I know it happens. I think for me, and maybe most of you it's such a mind game!!  I ate out this week, twice due to travel. I did get my protein in, I always do, but I wanted to try a chip at a Mexican place, so I did.  I had two chips!!!  So when the scales don't move, for me I have in my mind that I did not lose because I had a chip!!  How can we fix this broken way of thinking??

My calories are always between 800-1000  a day. I'm slowly getting them closer to 1200, I'm just not there yet!! I know I"m not eating enough to not have a loss  let alone a gain but it sure does play tricks with your mind!!!

I just hope it will get moving again!!!

I don't think we can stop our stinking thinking we just have to remind ourselves what is normal. Whether we have encouraging notes taped where we need them or we can do it mentally, we just have to remind ourselves over and over again.

Can I ask why you are trying to get to 1200 so early out? I'm about 11 mo and still rarely get over 1100 most days are 900-1100. Is this a number your doc or nut gave you? Just curious as I'm working on notes for a blog I plan to start this summer and one of the topics will be the differences in plans. My doc wanted me at 800 at 3 mo out but it took me til 5 mo to get there.

When I went in for my two month post op visit, the doctor said they like for their patients to try to work up to 1200 a day. He knew I could not do it yet but it's my goal to get too.

Plus I have so many people telling me I need to eat more because my body thinks I'm starving it with only eating so few calories. It's so hard to know what to do when you have so many doctors that believe one thing while others think another way is better, not to mention people's personal take on it.

In the past two weeks I've managed to get my calories up to 1100, but that was only 1 day and I ate fudgesciles in order to get it up that high.  That was an added 80.  I get confused i will admit and find myself not know who to believe.  Then when you go a week without a loss, I can't help be think I did something wrong!!! Stinkin thinkin,,,,,,,,needs to go!!!  I log and measure all my food!!  I keep great records of it all!!

No way could I have been eating that much in the way of calories that soon out of surgery.  Nor would I have gone to a Mexican food place and try chips.  Sorry, there are other choices to be made.  Why are you listening to everyone else's opinions when your surgeon is the one you need to listen to?  Stalls are going to happen and what will you do when it goes on for weeks or months?  This happens all the time so just be prepare for what ever comes down the road.  My surgeon does not count calories or carbs but we also know what to stay away from.   Jane

I don't know your height and weight, but 1200 calories this early out sounds like a lot to me too. The number of calories that I need to maintain is 1600.

I do agree that the games that our minds play on us are wild. I'm sure that if I had eaten chips that early out I would have that in my mind thinking if I only had not eaten them I would have lost this wee****ven if I know it didn't cause it) Jane also mentioned choices. This is the time to be forming new habits. For ME those new habits included completely avoiding things like that until I was done losing and then very sparingly after that.

I'm 8 months out and eat 1000 calories a day.  At 2 months out I was lucky to be eating 500 calories.

I think you are doing fine. Two chips will not affect you one way or the other.  If you ate the bowl, maybe but two???? It has nothing to do with your stall.  Your calorie count now between 800-1000 is fine, you can always check in with the nut or dr and question the 1200 calories. Every doctor has plans that vary by huge amounts. I still have two protein mix meals a day because my doctor demands it.

Don't let yourself become down over the posts. They may have sounded critical of you (or your nutritionist) but I think others are just challenging you to question your plan. In the end its between you and your doctor or nut. If you work your plan and keep up the exercise that scale is going to start moving again.  Don't despair in the mean time. Good luck with your journey.

I'm fine, I really am, I just get so frustrated!!   Everything I knew or know about dieting does not apply anymore. This is a whole new way of living.  You read on here and one person says this, while another says that.  Not one time since I started this have I pushed myself to beyond full or have gotten sick from eating too much.  I was told by my NUT and my doctor was I a little on the low side and maybe I little too careful.  I need to eat more or at least try too.  When I get in 800 calories a day it's because I ate peanut butter on my half piece of toast or I would have a fudge pop, for 80 calories.  I did eat my protein first ALWAYS and I do log and measure/weigh my food.  I can hardly get in 4 oz of chicken or fish.  I do make healthy choices for me 99% of the time. I don't think that two chips will cause me to gain or not lose weight. Do I think it's the best choice for me, NO, but I am not going to not eat chips for the rest of my life.  I want to learn to eat a bite of something and do done with it. I don't know maybe reading all these post is not the best thing for me since it makes me feel like I don't know what I"m doing and so many do it another way.  I just like the support and input of those who have been thru this and know what they are talking about.  but it's all good!!!

Yesterday I was under 800 calories for the day, I walked two miles, did 250 squats.........surely I burned off some calories.
