in a food rut
Im almost 2 months out from surgery now and i have completely hit a wall some days i lay down at night and think oh my gosh.. i didnt eat today. very weird feeling and if i do eat its 1 to 2 meals a day. nothing seems appetizing to me and the food i put in front of myself i cant even stomach to eat. does anyone have any suggestions? i know i am def not eating enough and need to figure out some ideas whether to remind myself to eat and what to eat. i feel like im sad a lot and have been like a crying emotional mess for no reason lately. i am down 64 lbs in 7 weeks and i know thats good but i need help
I've definitely been there, I'm a bit farther out than you, but completely know where you're coming from...
Nik's Bariatric Foodie blog has been a godsend to me lately. I didn't use it much early out, but here's the link anyway: http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/p/favorite-recipes.html
I guess it's a little hard because you didn't mention what food stage you're at/what you're able to tolerate
Some of my go-to lighter yet high protein foods are: Scrambled eggs, string cheese, edamame, Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt, cottage cheese and SF popsicles. I also still eat protein shakes because they're easy and tolerable for me.
And don't worry- I was (and still sometimes am!) an emotional mess at that stage! I had to set an alarm on my phone to remind myself to eat.
I have been able to tolerate everything that i have eaten, turkey, turkey chili, pork, chicken a little bit of ham and pepperoni cheese and veggies. im starting to freak out about loosing my hair
I enjoyed wrapped a string cheese in deli meat and sometimes lettuce with some mustard or mayo at that point. It kind of felt like a sandwich. I also enjoyed making Mexican type dishes with different ground meats, beans, cheese, hot sauce and plain Greek yogurt as a sour cream substitute. I was cooking for myself though, not sure of your situation, but I always ended up with way more than I could eat even as leftovers, so be careful! LoL
You'll hear this time and time again but try not to fret about your hair! I totally get it, I'm 25 and have long hair and felt like every shower was worse and worse. But honestly, no one noticed but me. I started taking biotin and using Garnier Fructis Fall Fight shampoo and conditioner and spray. I have no idea if they helped, probably not, but it helped my anxiety if nothing else.
Congratulations on your success to date! 64 pounds is great progress. Definately check out Bariatric Foodie. Give the taco casserole a try - you won't regret it! When nothing else sounds appetizing, beans are my go-to food. Some of my favorite recipes include:

Have you been exercising? I found that exercise helps get those feel-good brain chemicals, and endorphins going which improves my emotional health. As for the hair, mine thinned out quite a bit but the good news is it came back! Now I have all of these little baby hairs popping out of my head. Hang in there, you're doing great!
