In the ER...

Had some very quick onset pain start at work this morning, on the right side of my back under my ribs. Probably the worst pain I've experienced in my life. Started throwing up, sweating and had the shakes. My surgeon instructed me to go to the ER right. Finally got a couple shots for the pain, thank goodness. Doctor believes it's kidney stones, but they are taking me in for a scan to verify.

As someone who just had some kidney stones that were too large to pass blasted apart yesterday, and is on round three of stones since my RNY, it sure does sound like stones.

I hope you feel better soon.  Kidney stone pain is HORRIBLE and and can come and go off and on until the stones get out of the body.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Thank you, Lora. I hope you are feeling better. Not sure if you mentioned this in one of your other posts, but is this something that can be an affect of our surgery? Or totally unrelated? I can't recall much that was said to me prior to the pain meds kicking in.

I still feel a little beat up from the lithotripsy yesterday, but feel MUCH better overall.

Yes, we are more likely to get kidney stones after RNY (for a number of reasons). Here is a link to a post I recently did about my informal research into kidney stones post-op:
