Question
My program is not anti-carb.. They are pro protein.
Pretty much they want at least 60 grams of protein spread out over 5 small meals.
I always try to eat my protein first - and if there is room for a carb, then I get a bite or so. Like at lunch today we went out at a business meeting at work and had chicken and broccoli at the Chinese restaurant. I ate chicken first, then a bit of broccoli and then finally a fork of rice.
My surgeon doesn't give a carb limit. She emphasizes protein first and making healthy, well-balanced food choices (and says if you get all your protein in and eat a balanced diet, the carbs aren't an issue). Making healthy choices, though, means avoiding "white carbs" (white bread and white flour products like cake, white rice, potatoes, etc.) and getting carbs from dairy products, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and fruits.
Also, too few carbs (under 100 per day) can contribute to developing kidney stones (which we are more prone to after RNY) according to the Cleveland Clinic.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
