I have read that corn is a no no....But I have some Morningstar Veggie burgers Black Bean and they have corn in it.. But not nearly as much as a piece of corn on the cob or a serving of straight corn... Should this be ok???  Thanks everyone

I don't know.  I guess it depends on why you consider corn a no  no.

Corn isn't a no no for me.  In fact, I've got some corn on the cob in the fridge right now.  I sometimes eat two ears for dinner.

I've never heard corn was a no-no either. I was eating it as soon as I started eating solid food, and have never had an issue.

Well that's good to know... I am 6 Weeks Post op right now.. So maybe I was thinking early on...  That's great news, I will try a veggie burger for lunch today :)  Thanks for the responses...  My surgery program doesn't really say to much as far as snacks... Is it to early to have snacks or if I can, What would be a good snack

I was advised to eat four to six times per day from the start.  A good snack would be the same things that are good to eat for meals - lean protein, whole grains, fruits and veggies.  I try to have some protein with each snack, so maybe some fruit and cheese, something like that.

Corn is good.  No reason to avoid it.  Eat it and lots of other vegetables.

I limit corn because it is a starch (like potatoes), not a vegetable. I like to roast an ear of corn and add it to a big mixed veggie stir fry. Add brown rice or quinoa and a protein choice to make a meal for the family.

I did not eat corn until I was well into maintenance. It is a starch, not a vegetable. Same with potatoes. I am from the Midwest and know that corn is the best way to fatten up hogs and cattle for market.

I love corn but think you are wise to not eat it while you still have weight to lose.

My surgeon didn't permit corn until several months out because (like broccoli, cauliflower, and pineapple) it doesn't digest well (it often goes through an gets expelled nearly whole even in people who have not had RNY).  It does have more starch than I prefer in a veggie, but I eat it fairly often in the summertime when it is available fresh and occasionally frozen during the winter.  I have to be really careful about how m,uch butter I put on it, though, because it is easy for me to go overboard!
