When I make them with Greek yogurt I add a little fruit to it & ice...you may need to put a tad bit of water in it so its not so thick. Good stuff though!!! My fav is with frozen strawberries.

I haven't been a big smoothie fan but I've decided to add protein to my diet and maybe get my hair to grow back faster.  I used skimmed milk with a packet of chocolate protein powder and it wasn't great so I added Greek yogurt, stirred it, and put it in the freezer.  When I checked it in about an hour I could stir it and crush the ice so it was like a frostie from the Dairy Queen.  I added a little SF praline flavoring and it was very tasty.  Initially I used a small whip to blend the powder.

You'll probably want to experiment to come up with the best proportions of ingredients to get the consistency that you like.

If what you're wanting is a lot of protein, then using protein powder will give you the most.  Using protein powder AND greek yogurt will give you a TON.  Though it's more common to find protein powder in sweet flavors.

But in any case, what you'll probably want to do is use frozen fruit - that way you don't have to use as much ice, and it'll be more flavorful.  Frozen fruit + greek yogur****er would probably work.  If your fruit isn't frozen then you'll want to add ice.

If you're not using fruit, then you might want to use milk instead of water, but I wouldn't recommend mixing the two.

Any blender should do... shaker bottles aren't really for smoothies since they won't break up ice.

I have a smoothie nearly every day for my breakfast.  I use lite greek yogurt (with 16G protein), about a cup of frozen fruit or berries, and a cup of unsweetened almond milk (30 cal a cup).  About the only way I get any fruit in!  Sometimes I put a handful of spinach in with the milk and yogurt and blend that before I put the fruit in.  Can't taste it and it's good for you.  I can sip on this for about an hour :)  It makes about 16 oz.  This is usually between 200 - 250 cal a drink.  Sugar varies but I don't dump.   I don't add protein powder to mine.  But I'm a few years out so I can eat more and don't have a problem getting my protein in.

thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be making a trip to the grocery store tomorrow to get some stuff to experiment with.

I sometimes make a shake with 4 oz of plain Greek yogurt, a scoop of protein powder (whatever flavor I am in the mood for) plus a handful of ice and 4 oz of Good Karma Protien + flax beverage (unsweetened) and it makes a VERY rich shake/smoothie.
